With Adobe now focusing its attention on the mobile market, both Flash and AIR appear equally vital to its mobile efforts due to their cross-platform abilities. While it is eyeing all major mobile platforms with the exception of Apple’s iOS, it appears to have singled out Android as the most important of the lot. The latest version of Android is the first to feature built-in Flash support. The San Jose-based software company is now looking forward to bringing its AIR platform to Android.
Adobe first showcased AIR for Android at Google I/O in May. Around 7,000 developers have already downloaded the test version since then, according to the company. That number is likely to swell further on the back of Adobe’s latest announcement that it hopes to introduce Adobe AIR 2.5 (the version that brings Android support) during the fourth quarter of 2010.
